Barton Court Athletics Successes
Posted on: 11/07/2025Barton Court Grammar School (BCGS) is incredibly proud of its fantastic performances in recent weeks at high-level Athletics competitions.
Thomas has had a busy schedule of competitions, but has been rewarded for his commitment and efforts with some stunning results. Competing in the Welsh Athletics National Championships, he received the following medals: Shot Put – Bronze (10.73 PB), 400m Hurdles – Bronze (1.01.11), 100m Hurdles – Bronze (14.18 PB) and Javelin – Gold (36.83m).
This means that BCGS has an U17 National Champion in Javelin. Thomas also had success at the South of England Athletic Association Combined Events Championship in Oxford. Thomas achieved Gold in the U17 Octathlon, with 4236 points which has made him the No.1 Ranked U17 Octathlete in Wales, with PBs in 5 events. These are fantastic achievements that the School is incredibly proud of.
Jacob has also been turning heads with his incredible Hurdles performances. He competed at the National Championships in Sheffield earlier in June. Moving up the under 15 age group, Jacob stepped up incredibly well, coming 4th in the 60m flat with a huge new PB of 7.87 seconds. He also got through to the final and finished 4th with another PB of 8.99 seconds. This means he is now ranked 4th in the country. Jacob is currently competing in the English Schools’ Track Finals in Birmingham and we await news of his performance.
